He was also a regular collaborator of Babatunde Olatunji, in the process emerging as one of the first jazz musicians to fuse the avant-garde with traditional African music. Allen was born May 25, 1924, in Louisville, KY, beginning clarinet lessons at the age of ten.

Mostly Other People Do The Killing

Mostly Other People Do the Killing is a quartet founded on the idea that not only is Jazz still alive and vibrant, but it can and should be fun, engaging and thoroughly contemporary. Rather than settling into one style or historical period, MOPDTK fuses the entire spectrum of Jazz and the various forms of improvised music it has spawned into a single, seamless melange of Uber-Jass. Each of the four members of MOPDTK is a product of the institutional Jazz Education system with additional influences immediately recognizable.

Twelves Trio

Riaan Vosloo, Mark Hanslip & Tim Giles are Twelves Trio. They have recently been joined by Rob Uptergraff on guitar, thus rendering their name a tautology. They are therefore thinking of changing their name to just "The Twelves" for the purpose of clarity - any thoughts on this important matter will be gratefully received. An new acoustic album is to be recorded in May, which is sure to be to a great success. An electronic album is also in the works, more details soon.
