A duo comprised of experimental British bassist Steve Lawson and American singer/songwriter Lobelia. They specialise in looped and layered ambience, playing Lobelia's songs as well as a range of unexpected cover versions, such as Love Is A Battlefield or Black Hole Sun. They perform all over the UK, and occasionally in Europe, and released a live-in-the-studio EP in early 2008 called Live In Nebraska.
There are three groups named "The Works" 1) It is rare to come across a band that can straddle that vast canyon between serial debauch and fierce, exacting professionalism. The Works from Stockholm, Sweden, however are just such a band and they come over like young goggle-eyed virtuosos from some weird Scandinavian conservatoire where ergot, as well as hours of practice, is on the curriculum. How apt then that lead singer/guitarist Andreas began The Works with rhythm guitarist Martin while both were attending the Stockholm School of Music.
Andy Hamill is a bass player. He has played double bass and bass guitar with many artists from jazz to pop, including: 4 Hero, Lou Rhodes, Carleen Anderson, Ursula Rucker, Omar, Shea Seger, Mark Murphy, Larry John Wilson, George Soule, Bonnie Bramlet, Nitin Sawhney, Natasha Atlas, Chris Bowden, Boris Grebenshikov, Cara Dillon, Beth Rowley, Tracey Thorn, Kylie Minogue, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, John Hegley and Harry Hill.
