The Blackbyrds

The Blackbyrds was a rhythm and blues and jazz-funk fusion group, formed in Washington, D.C. in 1973. The group was led by trumpeter Donald Byrd and featured some of his Howard University students: Kevin Toney (keyboards), Keith Killgo (vocals, drums), Joe Hall (bass guitar), Allan Barnes (saxophone, clarinet), and Barney Perry (guitar). Orville Saunders (guitar), and Jay Jones (flute, saxophone) were later members of the group. They signed to Fantasy Records in 1973. They are best known for their 1975 hit "Walking in Rhythm", which received a Grammy nomination.

Joby Talbot

Joby Talbot is a British Composer. He was born in Wimbledon, London, August 25 of 1971, Talbot initially studied composition at Royal Holloway and Bedford New College under Robert Saxton. In 1993 Talbot first met Neil Hannon and began arranging and performing with his group The Divine Comedy. One of their tracks, "In Pursuit of Happiness", was used as the theme music for BBC TV's Tomorrow's World.

Roberto started his musical journey in January 2000 using his precious savings at the age of 16 to buy his first set of turntables. After perfecting his craft for a few years he decided that production was the way forward. After a prolonged stint exploring the spectrum of electronica, he found that he was gravitating towards house and techno. Producers such as Steve Rachmad, Samuel L Session and Robert Hood were drawing his attention, and their influence can be heard in his production work today.

The Swinging Blue Jeans

The Swinging Blue Jeans are a five piece 1960s British merseybeat band, best known for their proto-rave-up hit single "Hippy Hippy Shake". Intriguingly, while "Hippy Hippy Shake" sounds rather Beatles-clone like, The Beatles did in fact do a cover version of this song for the BBC. The beat group had a three year spell of moderate success, flying along with the all-pervading merseybeat success story. Once the novelty started to pale, the hits dried up, and the band eventually retired to the oldies circuit.

Joe Dolan was born in Mullingar, County Westmeath. The youngest of eight, his Father died when he was 8 and his Mother when he was 15. Joe was left at home with brother Ben, as the rest of the family had either emigrated or settled down. On Ben's advice, Joe started work as an apprentice newspaper compositor with the local newspaper, the Westmeath Examiner.

Noted for his outstanding technical command and identifiable sound as a piano stylist, Mr. Jamal was born on July 2, 1930, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A child prodigy who began to play the piano at the age of three, he began formal studies at age seven. While in high school, he completed the equivalent of college master classes under the noted African-American concert singer and teacher Mary Cardwell Dawson and pianist James Miller.
