Summer Cats

Summer Cats are two girls and three boys from Melbourne, Australia. Like most people from Melbourne, they spend their time either: a) enjoying summer or b) waiting for summer to arrive. They play crash pop in an attempt to make you dance, so if you feel the urge...go right ahead! Musically they are somewhat of a cross between Stereolab and The Go-Betweens....or is that Talulah Gosh and The Left Banke?

Born Gold

Born Gold is the high-energy, beat-driven songwriting project of Canadian pop experimentalist Cecil Frena. Caught in an unusual dialogue between future-leaning electronic music, harsh noise and mainstream pop, Born Gold conjures stuttering, blown-out and chopped guitar peals, erratic, bubbling synth arpeggios, sparkling drum machine peals and bursts of meticulously processed digital noise. Oh, and hooks, hooks, hooks.

Artist Type:

Gary War

"Soundtrack to the middle of the end of all things. As if someone were to make a field recording of Michael MacDonald's time-share burning to the ground. A survivalist murdock champion who's out there somewhere...with a blue vest, a carton of Marlboros, extra socks, Clif bars, and a fully-functioning, factory-installed cassette player blaring pristine recordings of Keith David's voice."

Willy Moon

With only 21 years, Willy Moon already rolled halfway around the world and was finding its musical references on these trips. Born in Wellington (New Zealand) went to Europe with 18 years and ran there until finally finding home in London. Like the artist, his music travels a lot. With free-spirited and spontaneous, he defines it as "A sort of Bo Diddley remixed by Swizz Beatz." In fact, the sound of this man can be considered retro, but without resorting to any move to some kind of redemption.

Further Notes Regarding Peel It
Peel another 40-hour-workweek off the stack gyrating in your hands. Strip it from the wad and make it drizzle on the sign twirler at the live-nude intersection - “We Buy Gold, We Sell Gold” the sign reads.

Peel the gold leaf off the holy headpiece, off the Temple Mount, off the Dome Rock. Lotto jackpots get shared.

Peel the radial Goodyear’s off pop’s Ford Exploder glazing doughnuts into every Texas lawn, sister. Peel the sod away, the drought sucks like a dry hump with two backs, brother.
