Grips & Tonic is the new rap project of J.J. Peters (Of Deez Nuts and I Killed The Prom Queen) and Louie Knuxx. Their debut album "Want Some, Get Some" was released in June on Stomp Records. Donald McKinley Glover (born September 25, 1983) is an American actor, writer, comedian, musician and rapper. Glover first came to attention for his work in the sketch group Derrick Comedy and is best known for his role as community college student Troy Barnes on the NBC comedy series Community. Glover was born on Edwards Air Force Base, California, and raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia. He graduated from New York University with a degree in Dramatic Writing in 2006. Glover is known for his work on the NBC show Community alongside Joel McHale and Chevy Chase.
Dabrye (pronounced “DAB-ree”) is just one alias of Ghostly artist Tadd Mullinix, who explores hip-hop with head-nodding beats and saw-tooth bass lines, with a keen eye to forward-thinking production and rhythms. Dabrye has earned considerable praise from both the hip-hop underground (Jay Dee, Jurassic 5) and the electronic music press, earning him a Next 100 mention from URB in 2002 and praise from publications as diverse as Rolling Stone to The Wire.
The over-the-top, bazooka wielding action star of hip hop, charismatic Floridian word master Celph Titled began his professional entrance into the rap game as a teenage lyricist and local production staple during the late 90's indie 12-inch vinyl boom. Being a member of, and producing for, a number of boundary-pushing Tampa rap crews at the time, he networked heavily to take his music worldwide and began contributing beats and rhymes to a non-stop tirade of vinyl singles during a time when the 12-inch single market was key in building a cult fan base.
Company Flow was a New York based hip-hop group. Their 1997 debut album Funcrusher Plus is often cited as the catalyst for the new type of underground hip-hop scene that emerged in the late nineties. Company Flow consisted of El-P, Bigg Jus and DJ Mr. Len.
The group disbanded in 2000 after Bigg Jus had left in 1999. As a duo, El-P and Mr. Len released another instrumental album called Little Johnny From the Hospitul, after which each of the elements pursued their solo projects, El-P expanding the roster of his label Definitive Jux and Mr. Len giving life to Dummy Smacks Records.
