The Walkmen

The Walkmen are five New Yorkers who have played rock music since they were 10 years old. All five originally hail from Washington DC, United States where they attended St. Albans high school and played in several bands. Over the years, and in their many ensembles, they've experimented with punk, noise, and a lot of "garage" sounds. The band formed in 2000 with three members from Jonathan Fire*Eater — Paul Maroon (guitar, piano), Walter Martin (organ/bass), and Matt Barrick (drums) — and two from The Recoys — Peter Bauer (bass/organ) and Hamilton Leithauser (vocals, guitar).

Suffocation

Suffocation, one of the earliest American death metal bands, arranged heavy, uniquely rhythmic, riffs into complex song structures to create a sub-genre of the form often termed "brutal" death metal - also known by many as "New York Death Metal," or "nydm" for short. Others in this form include Immolation, Incantation, Skinless, and Morpheus Descends. The band formed in 1990 and has since released many highly-regarded recordings on several labels, including the former powerhouse of the genre, Roadrunner.

Decapitated

Decapitated is a technical death metal band from Poland. They formed in 1996 in Krosno in southern Poland, when all the members were still attending music school. They released their first demo Cemeterial Gardens in 1997 and their second demo, The Eye of Horus in 1998. After these releases, the band was considered as genuine contenders of the underground metal community, and eventually signed with Wicked World/Earache Records for the release of the debut album, Winds of Creation.
