Bonfire Madigan play baroque-folk punk grounded on frontwoman Madigan Shive's soaring lullaby vocals and virtuoso cello skills. Shive, a master of tone and mood, crafts songs with raw, emotional melodies and powerful, unexpected dynamics.
In January 2011, Luka Šulić, along with friend and fellow cellist Stjepan Hauser, performed a cover of Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal which was played solely on cello. They uploaded it on Youtube under the nickname 2Cellos. In just a few days, the music video became a YouTube sensation. Šulić and Hauser have finished recording their debut album with Sony Music Entertainment, which is scheduled for release in mid June, 2011.
Rasputina is a "cello rock" ensemble composed of singer/cellist Melora Creager, and various, frequently changing band members. The current lineup includes Creager (cello), Daniel Dejesus (cello), and Dawn Miceli (drums). Founded by Creager in 1992, they have long held true to their mission of enlightening the common man as to the power and versatility of the mighty cello. Historically influenced, and constantly costumed, Rasputina keeps a small legion of incredibly passionate admirers enthralled with their earnest musicianship.
