Heartbreak Club

What has become of Heartbreak Club (HBC)? Once a straight-up parody of angst-ridden pop, HBC are rapidly becoming Australia's beacon of hope for Geek Rock; spearheading a new wave of 1990's inspired intelligent, ironic and self-deprecating punk-infused tunes. In doing so, HBC have recorded a new, darker and grittier album that is 'unapologetically melodic; adopting a brutally honest, confessional and grungier tone' than previous efforts, with the band noting their admiration for Weezer, Regurgitator, Blink 182 and Nirvana. They are still geeks, however.

The Skunks

Busting out of Austin’s country and blues mold in the late ’70s, The Skunks were Austin’s first genuine punk band, playing everything so fast and loud that it cut through the city’s “cosmic cowboy” crap like a rusty straight razor. Led by Jesse Sublett and Eddie Muñoz (also of The Plimsouls), later replaced by acclaimed singer-songwriter Jon Dee Graham, The Skunks regularly opened for the likes of Elvis Costello and The Police before splintering in 1983, leaving behind a legacy that can still be heard in every slash-and-burn Austin group since.

BabyHead

Babyhead are one of the United Kingdom's fastest growing independent acts. Their appeal cannot be defined by one aspect alone; it’s not just the combination of the horn section with turntable decksterity that gets any crowd's attention, it’s not just the infectious nature of heavy dub bass and ska chops over a hip-hop backbeat that gets them moving, and it's not just the cutting edge lyricism delivered with unwavering tenacity that holds the attention until the encore.

Victims Of Circumstance

These days a lot of indie bands say they're DIY, but few live up to the billing as powerfully as Victims of Circumstance. Fully embodying the title of their explosive debut album Do It Yourself, the hard driving Tampa, Florida-based pop-punk band has built a strong following from the ground up. Victims of Circumstance has won over audiences with their catchy pop hooks, distinctive fusion of punk and ska and an ongoing commitment to the local music scene.
