The Abyssinians

The Abyssinians are a Jamaican roots reggae group, famous for their close harmonies and promotion of the Rastafari movement in their lyrics. The vocal trio was originally formed in 1969 by Bernard Collins, Donald Manning and Linford Manning. Their most famous songs are "Satta Massagana" and "Y Mas Gan", both of which are delivered partially in the Ethiopian language of Amharic. This language is sacred to Rastafarians as they believe the last Emperor of Ethiopia, Haile Selassie I, to be the Christ in flesh.

P.A.I.N

Established in 1995, The Propaganda And Information Network (as P.A.I.N is officially named) was first put together from the ashes of two seminal free festival bands: AOS3 and Radical Dance Faction. Brought together to carry on the same Anarcho-style rantings, but with a much harder, Punk Rock attitude to it (less toking and more drinking!) within the first 7 days of forming P.A.I.N managed to book up a 3 week tour, literally writing the set in soundchecks.

Nairobi

Performing at big festivals (like Creamfields and Earth Day) as well as slummy venues in the outskirts of Buenos Aires, Nairobi cuts through the heat and trance of live music. Wu Wei, their debut album, was mixed at Ariwa Studios by Mad Professor.
