Pressure Drop

There is more than one artist with this name... 1.
London-based disc jockeys Justin Langlands and Dave Henley first met in 1986, at the peak of the house scene. Under the moniker Blood Brothers they became stalwarts of the genre. Pressure Drop was born with the singles Feeling Good (Big World, 1990), Back To Back (Big World, 1990), Trancefusion (Big World, 1990).
The style changed with the album Upset (Boombastic, 1992), one of the precursors of trip-hop, the praxis (guest singers, guest rappers, guest horn sections) if not the sound (You're Mine).

His singing style is delicate and ephemeral, making heavy use of falsetto. His stint at Studio One produced some beautiful tunes like Stars, Queen Of The Minstrels, Magic Spell, Trick In The Book and many others. His sister, Cecille Campbell, also sang at Studio One and was a member of the Soulettes with Rita Marley.

Jon Hopkins

Jon Hopkins is a musical shapeshifter: a composer, pianist and a self-taught studio wizard. He makes big, bold electronic music using walls of synths, twinkling melodies and amorphous bass rumbles. As such his two albums have seen him labelled by the likes of ambient patriarch Brian Eno as an electronic innovator while an impressive sweep of artists from Herbie Hancock to David Holmes, not to mention ballet choreographer Wayne McGregor, lo-fi folkster King Creosote and musical bluebloods Coldplay, have all called upon the 28-year-old Londoner's handiwork as a producer and composer.
