Railroad Bill

Railroad Bill are the skiffle kings of Cardiff, having been plying their trade for 20 years now. They have won numerous busking competitions and played in a variety of exotic locations such as Italy and Singapore. Their stage show is raucous and humourous and often forms part of Cardiff's "Meltdown" sessions. They play numerous guitars, mandolin, banjolin, washboard and tea-chest-bass. The songs include a mix of train songs from the old-west...

JD and the Longfellows

Short biography JD and the Longfellows formed in 2006. They have released three albums of original folk/skiffle/country music, ‘Confessions’ (2006), 'Happy Hour Again!' (2008) and this summer 'Swinging for England' (2011) - a bit like pass the parcel, but when the music stops who will have your keys? The band have played several UK tours, over 200 gigs (one in France), supported bands such as Alabama 3, as well as clubs such as What's Cookin', Stranger than Paradise, the 12 Bar Club and Gypsy Hotel.

Fists

FISTS have been writing and recording in various bedrooms and rehearsal spaces across Nottingham since 2006. Their noisy, joyful, occasionally ramshackle and always ferociously energetic live gigs display the FISTS sound in all its crisp, fresh, beautifully bruised glory. Sweet vocal harmonies, rich raw power; original, electrifying indie rock. FISTS have been picking up fans wherever they play thanks to a sound that intrigues, excites and never stops evolving and sprouting new life. The band has a tantalising and beguiling set of influences.

The Gutter Brothers

What follows is a year by year outline of the history of the band - it goes on a bit, but quite a lot went on! There are many more tales to tell over and above this summary of events, and many people who really deserve a mention - there were five of us in the band but we could never have achieved half of what we did without so many fantastic friends and associates, and corny though it is, without all the thousands of fans who, let's face it, were the reason we were able to avoid getting grown up jobs for so long :) We intend to add some links and more content to this section in future...

Fat and Frantic

Fat and Frantic were a band. They are no more. Sometimes they reappear to play concerts and call themselves "Rev Softly". But not very often. They played a mixture of gospel and skiffle which they called "goffle". Some people accused them of playing a mix of punk and skiffle called "piffle". They played netween 1985 and 1992, and a one-off reunion gig in 1998. They were often to be found at Greenbelt, occasionally on tour around the UK, sometimes at the Edinburgh Festival fringe...
