Born "Sonia Clarke" in London, England in 1968, of Trinidadian parentage. She was sort of written-off at school but had shown talents in sports. She dreamed of becoming a successful pentathlete up to the time ending up only second in a race. Then she turned to the music scene, dancing at clubs etc. and joined a reggae band as a singer at the age of 17. She was homeless in these times. Her band went defunct the same year, but she got a solo record deal leading to an immediate club hit in the UK.
Reset is the name of at least three totally different musical groups: one a Canadian punk band, one a Norwegian eurodance group, and a Japanese indie rock band. All three groups have tracks listed here, but the rest of this article is about the Canadian punk band. Reset was formed in 1995 in Montreal, Quebec. Originally the band members were Pierre Bouvier, Philippe Jolicoeur, Charles-André "Chuck" Comeau and Jean-Sébastien Boileau. Reset recorded a demo tape : Concerned, in 1995.
Dead or Alive is an influential new wave band from Liverpool that rose to popularity during the 1980s and gained a cult following in Japan during that time. They are best known for the hit singles "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)" and "Brand New Lover". Before Pete Burns founded Dead Or Alive, he was involved with a Liverpool based band named Nightmares In Wax (no relation to Nightmares on Wax). The band centred around alternative music and released their only notable record, Black Leather in 1979 or 1980.
Sinitta (born Sinitta Renet Malone, 19 October 1968, in Seattle, Washington) is an American-born actress and singer who has lived in the United Kingdom for most of her career. She is best known for her hit records in the 1980s; including "So Macho", "Toy Boy", "Cross My Broken Heart" and a 1989 cover of "Right Back Where We Started From", and her close relationship with Simon Cowell. M People were a British house music act from Manchester which formed in 1990. They consisted of Mike Pickering, Heather Small and Paul Heard and Shovell. Pickering was a member of factory records dance act Quando Quango, but became more noted as one of the original DJs at The hacienda. Heard was a member of acid jazz band Ace Of Clubs. Heather Small was in the British Soul band Hot House who had released a number of critically acclaimed records without scoring any major success.
Aqua is a danish-norwegian dance-pop group, best known for their 1997 breakthrough single Barbie Girl. Initially forming as Joyspeed in 1989, the band was renamed Aqua in 1994 and achieved huge success across the globe in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The group managed to top the UK Singles Chart with their first three singles. The group released two albums: Aquarium in 1997 and Aquarius in 2000, before splitting up in July 2001. The group sold an estimated 33 million albums and singles, making them the most successful Danish band ever and the second most successful Norwegian band.
