picturebook

Picturebook – Bilderbuch.

Kaya Burgess

Kaya Burgess is a British singer-songwriter whose brushstroke lyricism combines with a folk-rock-n-roll sound to create a compelling image of life, literature and London town. "A lovely voice." ----- Guy Garvey, lead-singer of Elbow "I can't put my finger on it, but i like it a lot and it's very personal and unique. It's got this old, worn feel to it, like a historic city after the lights go out and only a few dim pubs are still open, a handful of patrons inside drinking up the last dregs of the day. In other words, it's brilliant." ----- Tortoise Crossing

Fairport Convention

Fairport Convention is often credited with being the first English folk-rock band. Fairport, formed in 1967, rapidly developed from playing cover versions of American 'west coast' music to an individual style which melded rock music with traditional English tunes and songs. Like their peers The Byrds , Buffalo Springfield and Jefferson Airplane, they were blessed with several considerable individual talents, and produced music that, at least initially was eclectic, as well as exploratory. This side of the band may best be heard on Heyday, a collection of tracks broadcast by the BBC.
