John Martyn

John Martyn OBE, born Iain David McGeachy (11 September 1948 – 29 January 2009), was a British singer-songwriter and guitarist. Over a forty-year career he released twenty studio albums.
He grew up in Glasgow and attended Shawlands Academy. John Martyn moved to London from Glasgow in the mid 1960s. He made his initial recorded impact in 1967, at the age of 19, with his debut album London Conversation. Since then he has become an integral part of the British music scene, incorporating folk, blues, jazz and even reggae into his unique sound.

June Tabor

Born in Warwick in 1947, June Tabor is considered one of the foremost members of the English folk music scene today. Aside from her highly acclaimed solo music career, she has also combined her talents with greats such as Maddy Prior, Martin Simpson, Elvis Costello and Oysterband. In 2004 she was named Folk Singer of the Year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Shelagh Mcdonald

Originally from Scotland, Shelagh McDonald moved to London in the late 1960s, where she was part of the folk-music scene. In 1970 she released her first album, Shelagh McDonald Album, which sold rather poorly. 1971's Stargazer sold better, and was critically acclaimed. However, some time after its release, McDonald disappeared and wasn't heard from again until quite recently. Shelagh McDonald's music is close to that of some of her contemporaries, for example, Sandy Denny, Nick Drake, and Duncan Browne.

Chris Leslie

Chris Leslie (born Christopher Julien Leslie on 15 December 1956, in Banbury, Oxfordshire, England) is an English electric folk musician. As well as recording a numer of sole albums, Leslie has played with a number of seminal English folk-rock bands, including Whippersnapper and The Albion Band. He joined Fairport Convention in 1996. Inspired by local musicians, Leslie began playing the fiddle at the age of thirteen. At the age of 16 he made his first album recording, with the Northamptonshire folk band Mithras on Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, released in 1974.

Anika Moa

Anika Moa (born 21st May 1980) is a singer-songwriter from Christchurch, New Zealand. While still at school in Christchurch, Moa entered the 'Smokefree Rockquest'.
She received a record deal with Warner Music in New Zealand and Atlantic Records in New York. The record company had big commercialized plans for her - which conflicted with her brash down-to-earth personality. Overall Moa did not enjoy her time in America and returned to base herself in New Zealand. Her first album was released in 2001.

American Music Club

American Music Club (often abbreviated AMC) is a San Francisco-based band led by singer-songwriter Mark Eitzel. They've been recording and playing in SF clubs since the mid 1980's, showing a remarkable longevity for a band that has been far more critically acclaimed than financially successful. Although born in California, frontman Mark Eitzel spent his formative years in Great Britain and Ohio before returning to the Bay Area in 1980.
