Blu is definitely a leader in the new school of Los Angeles emcees. His presence is undeniable, while his music captivates audiences regardless of race, class, and gender. His delivery flows flawlessly, while his content reflects the joy and pain of working class youth everywhere. Exile is a producer, DJ and occasional emcee previously known for being a member of the duo Emanon, along with Aloe Blacc. His style of production is known for its "laid back soulful vibes" and is influenced by such producers as J Dilla and Madlib.

Chino XL (born Derek Barbosa, April 8, 1971, in The Bronx, New York but raised in East Orange, New Jersey) is a rapper well respected among hip hop enthusiasts for his battling abilities. He is notorious for his usage of self-consciously over-the-top punchlines (which usually take the form of puns or similes) and for his exaggerated egotism. He is also well known to many for a brief feud with Tupac Shakur.

Kool Keith

An original member of New York's new-school pioneers the Ultramagnetic MC's, "Kool" Keith Thornton is best known as a solo rapper. His signature style is stream-of-consciousness lyrical flow and complex vocals, two skills that earn him a perennial nod from the underground hip-hop community. The average Kool Keith album is peppered with bizarre, disjointed, even delusional or disassociated themes, concepts, and references. Nearly all of his albums incorporate a satirical dislike for more commercialized strains of hip-hop, as well as major record labels.

Mr. Lif

Mr. Lif (born Jeffrey Haynes) is a Boston rapper who is currently signed to New York independent label Definitive Jux. Besides his solo career, Lif is also a member of the hip hop group The Perceptionists with long-time friends and collaborators Akrobatik and DJ Fakts One. Mr. Lif grew up in the neighbourhood of Brighton in Boston, MA. For two years he attended Colgate University, dropping out after becoming enamored with the hip hop music being produced at the time.

The Olympic Symphonium

The Olympic Symphonium is a unique collaboration between three accomplished Maritime musicians. With the hopes of forming a quiet escape from their accustomed high-energy rock/pop projects, the idea of this group was to focus more on the subtle, gentler side of music. The group released their stunning debut, Chapter 1, in early 2007. The album has been distributed, reviewed and sold all over the world and is now out of print.

Joe Budden (born August 31, 1980 in Spanish Harlem, New York) is a rapper from Jersey City, New Jersey. Aesop Rock (born Ian Bavitz on June 5, 1976) is an alternative hip hop artist/producer from Northport, New York, United States. 1. Gaps, born Ricardo Tejeda, is not your quintessential rapper. Raised in a multiracial household, in the infamous Sistrunk area of Fort Lauderdale, FL, during the 90s, he quickly found a passion for Hip Hop. Honing his skills, and using his background from a lower-middle class working family, he released his first album, “Primitive Slob”, in 2005. Driven by personal experiences and beliefs, this album was a highly emotional record, with deep political undertones. This garnered Gaps accolades as a rapper and opened doors for performances and collaborations.

There is more than one artist with this name: 1. Dexter Raymond Mills, Jr. (born June 14, 1977 in Queens, New York), better known by his stage name Consequence, is an American hip hop artist. 2. Consequence (Cameron Mclaren), a drum and bass artist, pioneering the new minimal style of drum and bass. His first album, Live For Never, was released on D-Bridge's Exit record label in November, 2009.
