The Smoke

There are several bands with this name. The UK group The Smoke consisted of Mick Rowley on vocals, Mal Luker on guitar, Zeke Lund on bass and Geoff Gill on drums. They released a handful of singles from 1967 - 1970, with their biggest hit 'My Friend Jack' reaching no. 2 in Germany and no. 45 in the UK. See The Smoke (UK). Helix

There is more than one artist with this name: 1) Helix is a heavy metal band that formed in 1974 for a Battle of the Bands contest in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada and is best known for their 1984 single "Rock You". The original lineup consisted of singer Brian Vollmer, guitarists Brent Doerner and Paul Hackman, bassist Keith Zurbrigg and drummer Brian Doerner. In 1992, Hackman died when the group's van rolled down a 40-foot enbankment after a concert in Vancouver.

Their debut single was released in June 2007; a double a-side 7" featuring 'She Starts Monday' and 'Heather's Loaded = McCartney's Blown It' on This Is Fake DIY Records. Their second single, titled 'Flammable Leisurewear' , was released February 2008 on Alcopop and featured sleeve artwork designed by Paul Rafferty of Hot Club de Paris.
