Alice in Chains

Alice in Chains was one of the most influential American rock bands of the early '90s. Drawing equally from the heavy riffing of metal and the gloomy strains of post-punk, the band developed a bleak, nihilistic sound that balanced grinding hard rock with subtly textured acoustic numbers. They were hard enough for metal fans, yet their dark subject matter and punky attack placed them among the front ranks of the Seattle-based grunge bands. While this dichotomy helped the group soar to multi-platinum status with their second album, 1992's Dirt, it also divided them.

Emperors

Emperors is rock band from Perth, Australia. Starting out in 2009 as a studio project, Adam Livingston and Greg Sanders had the common goal of writing catchy, loud pop music without any trace of cynicism or pretension. The songs combine rich melodies, anthemic vocals and abrasive guitars, entrenched in 90’s indie rock and 80’s punk, but with a much wider variety of influences. What began as an inebriated, weekly ritual in a North Perth apartment developed over the next year until it became a poorly rehearsed but passionate rock 'n' roll machine.
