Jon Douglas Lord is an English Hammond organ and piano player. He was born in Leicester on 9 June 1941. He began to play professionally in 1966. He was a member of Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Paice, Ashton & Lord, The Artwoods, and Flowerpot Men. He is recognized for combining rock and classical music. In 1968, Jon co-founded Deep Purple, the band he was most well-known for. Jon and the drummer, Ian Paice, were the only constant band members for 34 years. He left Deep Purple after their UK tour in 2002, and was replaced with Don Airey.
There is more than one artist called Quartz. 1) Quartz came out of the British hard rock hotbed of Birmingham to join the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement in the late '70s. With a lineup that included John Bonham-associate Mike Hopkins and future Black Sabbath keyboardist Geoff Nichols, they were actually founded under the name Bandylegs but changed when Jet Records showed interest in the band.
