Rakaa

Born Rakaa Taylor in Los Angeles, California, Rakaa (aka Iriscience) is a MC, and one third of the renown west-coast underground crew Dilated Peoples. In 2010 he released his first solo album, Crown Of Thorns. Aside from rapping, Rakaa's passions run deep: stretching from visual arts to training Gracie Jiu-Jitsu to traveling the world as a highly sought after Host and MC, all in his spare time.

Shlohmo

L.A. native Henry Laufer, the 21-year-old producer better known as Shlohmo, is a lo-fi beat junkie and field-recording enthusiast, whose crackling, low-BPM compositions update Boards of Canada's filmstrip-soundtrack wooziness. An LA native, Laufer grew up listening to "stuff like DJ Shadow, Amon Tobin, M83 stuff with some sort of cinematic vision." He started making beats when he was 14, but "didn't really do it with any sort of purpose until I was like 17 or 18. That was also around the time he and his friends, already fans of Flying Lotus, discovered Low End Theory.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse

Canadian singer and songwriter Neil Young includes his personal garage band Crazy Horse ("second best backing band in the world") to make raw and unpolished rock. Their gritty style of rock has influenced countless artists and music styles. Crazy Horse is best known for its long association with Young, despite having released five albums of its own over a 19-year span. It has been co-credited with Young as Neil Young and Crazy Horse on 13 albums, "Live at the Fillmore East" from the 1970 tour (2006) being the last.

There are two artists with this name: 1. Mike G is a member of the Los Angeles Hip Hop collective OFWGKTA. He has released one solo album (ALI, 2010), A mixtape titled Mike Check, and a number of Chopped & Screwed Remix albums, including a version of "Bastard" by fellow bandmate, Tyler, The Creator. There are at least two artists with this name. 1) M.E.D. aka Medaphoar is a MC who has recorded with Madlib, Wildchild, and Oh No. M.E.D's debut album was released on Stones Throw Records in 2005. Entitled Push Comes To Shove, the album features production from Madlib, J Dilla, Oh No (Madlib's younger brother), and Just Blaze. A CD entitled "Bang Ya Head" was released during Stones Throw's 2005 Tour and features M.E.D (known as Medaphoar) guest spots from 1998 to 2005.
M.E.D. made a dis track toward Canibus called "Lightwork."

The Standells

The Standells were a 1960s rock and roll band from Los Angeles, California who, like The Seeds, exemplified the style. The band was formed in 1962 by lead singer/organist Larry Tamblyn and guitarist Tony Valentino. The Standells' first hit single was Dirty Water, which reached #11 on the Billboard charts on June 11, 1966. Multiple urban myths exist about the origins of "Dirty Water", which has become a Boston radio staple.
