Fool's Gold

Fool's Gold is an Afro-pop band which formed in Los Angeles in 2006. The band rotates around Luke Top (real name Nativ Top) and Lewis Pesacov and also enlists friends and colleagues that include members of bands Foreign Born and Glasser, former members of We Are Scientists, The Fall and a variety of visual artists . Their major influence is South African, Ethiopian and Eritrean music, while lead singer Luke Top, who was born and raised in Israel, sings in Hebrew.

Mariem Hassan

Widely recognised by critics as the best voice in Western Sahara, Mariem Hassan has unavoidably become the representative voice for her people throughout the world. Her powerfully haunting voice calls-out for the liberalisation of her occupied homeland. Early on in her music career, Mariem joined forces with "Matir el Uali Mustafa Sayed" (better known as "El Uali"). With El Uali she toured other countries to take part in cultural events of high political impact.

Atongo Zimba

Atongo Zimba, born in Ghana's Bolgatanga region in 1967 gained first fame as he was for a year and a half the openingact at the Shrine shows of Fela Kuti in Lagos, Nigeria. He returned to Ghana to play at the PANAFEST (Pan African Festival of Arts and Culture) and he played and toured with great African musicians as Hugh Masekela, Manu Dibango, Osibisa, Francis Fuster, Jimmy Beckley's Afro-Jazz Combo and Angelique Kidjo, to mention just a few.

Hailing from Nigeria, award winning artist Afrikan Simba is one of the leading MC's in London, having worked with top sound systems such as Jah Shaka, Aba Shanti and Channel One. He has also recorded with the likes of Jah Warrior, Zion Train, Dub Judah & and runs his own ‘Ayamba’ record label, based in Jamaica. Hugh Masekela

Hugh Masekela (born Johannesburg, April 4, 1939) is a South African flugelhorn and cornet player. In 1961, as part of the anti-apartheid campaign, he was exiled to the United States where he was befriended by Harry Belafonte. He has played primarily in jazz ensembles, with guest appearances on albums by The Byrds and Paul Simon. In 1987, he had a hit single with "Bring Him Back Home" which became an anthem for the movement to free Nelson Mandela. After apartheid ended, Masekela returned to South Africa where he now lives.

1. Peter King (b. 1940) is an English jazz saxophonist, composer, and clarinettist. King was born in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey on 11th August 1940, and taught himself to play the clarinet at the age of fifteen, quickly switching to alto saxophone.

Nkomba

Ron Nkomba is an acoustic folk artist who sings in both English and Chichewa, the national languages of Malawi. As well as his interpretations of traditional African folk songs, his compositions draw upon experiences and influences from both Europe and Africa which reflect his up-bringing. Nkomba is an impassioned performer whose songs provide insightful social and political commentary, from the current devastation of deforestation and the plight of women in Malawi, to present day UK politics and sea drenched love songs.

Tiken Jah Fakoly

Tiken Jah Fakoly (1968) is a reggae singer from Odienné, Côte d’Ivoire. Tiken Jah was born into a family of griots and christened Doumbia Moussa Fakoly on June 23, 1968 in Odienne, north-western Côte d'Ivoire. He discovered reggae at an early age, assembling his first group, Djelys, in 1987. He became well-known at a regional level, but would soon ascend to national recognition. Concerned by the social and political evolution of his country, it was not long before Tiken Jah was writing incisive works on the political environment in Côte d'Ivoire.
