Roxy Rawson

Roxy Rawson knows how to bewitch a crowd. The classically- trained musician has been bringing her unique blend of impish violin vocals to the London gig scene for a few years. Her music is beautifully peculiar; a sweet mix of classical notes and frenzied, catch-me-if-you-can lyrics interspersed with bursts of laughter. She doesn’t take herself too seriously and is original to the point of raising eyebrows; comparisons to the likes of Joanna Newsom and Regina Spektor are beginning to emerge. With each show, the applause gets louder and her name gets bigger.

http://www.myspace.com/thebellehops In summer 2008 Jen though of starting a band which would be like the girl groups of the 50s and 60s but now, and with Scottish accents. She wrote some things and enlisted the help of Dave and Pete with making them into proper songs. Then nothing happened for months and months. But in March 2009 Jen thought of it again and got songs together with Pete's help and asked a bunch of people to join. They became known as the belle hops and had their first practice in May 2009.

As you can read on the L Magazine website: "some might say they sound too much like Belle and Sebastian, but we think they sound just the right amount like them.
