Refused is a hardcore punk band originating from Umeå, Sweden, formed in 1991. The band's final lineup comprised its founding members, vocalist Dennis Lyxzén and drummer David Sandström, as well as guitarists Kristofer Steen and Jon Brännström. Their lyrics were often of a non-conformist and politically far-left nature. The band released five EPs and three albums before initially splitting up in 1998.

Naked City was an avant-garde music group from New York City, New York, United States led by saxophonist and composer John Zorn, performed from 1988 to 1993. The ensemble was notable for remaining unconfined to any musical category, juxtaposing unrelated styles of music often within individual compositions at breakneck speed. Its music incorporated recognizable elements of jazz, grindcore, surf, classical, thrash, country music, punk rock and other genres. Carl Stalling has been cited as an influence on Zorn and the work of Naked City.

The Shade is Cosmic Americana conglomerated collective with ten hands, two beards, seventeen strings and four drumsticks. Formed in a big yellow house in an old Northeastern shipping town that never got the railroad, they play original music inside and outside, perform loop generating algorithms and once attempted to impersonate the Police. The 3 guitarists are playing a mini-tour throughout southern California in September and a full-fledged east coast tour is planned for October.
