Samsara Blues Experiment
Samsara Blues Experiment are a Berlin based psychedelic rock band, founded in Summer 2007 by leadguitarist/singer Christian Peters. They went through several changes in the first period but are in constant line-up since September 2008 featuring Hans Eiselt (guitar), drummer Thomas Vedder and Richard Behrens (bass). As the band name implies, three elemental aspects are to notice - the blues as the foundation where it all comes from, the inclusion of spiritual influences accompanied by Indian/raga music and the experimental approach to mix up varied elements in a convincing manner.
Pretty Things
The Pretty Things were a 60's British rock band that evolved from simple rhythm and blues to psychedelic music and concept albums. Originally sounding like a rawer version of the early Rolling Stones sound, the Pretty Things would make their biggest statement in history with the concept album S.F. Sorrow Is Born and the strong set of tunes on Parachute. S.F. Sorrow apparently made quite an impression on Pete Townsend, as inspiration for what would turn out to be Tommy.
Rainman
There are at least two artists with the name Rainman: 1. Rainman is the name of a soloproject by Frank Nuyens, a former member of the Dutch group Q' 65. He recorded the album 'Rainman' in 1971, a collection of songs influenced by British folkrock and songwriters from the American Westcoast. 2. For years, Rainman has been building serious skills on mic and decks alike, cementing his presence within the Brisbane and Sydney hip-hop scenes.
Orange Sunshine
Orange Sunshine are catching the very soul of the motor-blues garage-punk and acid proto-hardrock era of the late '60's and the early 70's. With band members derived from several Dutch '80's and '90's garage-, doom-, acid-, surf-, noise-, punk- and hard-rock bands (such as Top Gear, Panty Boy, Twin Earth, the White Trash Minstrels and Sunwheel from the metro area of The Hague/Den Haag and Cromlech from Arnhem, check out www.motorwolf.com or www.godspill.
Daevid Allen
Daevid Allen was one of the founders of the British progressive rock band the Soft Machine in 1966. After recording just one album with the group, he became the founder/leader of Gong, which he left in 1973 to begin a solo career (though his first solo album, Banana Moon, was released in 1971 while he was still in the group). Allen explored his quirky, folky take on rock throughout the '70s and '80s on albums like 1976's Good Morning and 1983's Alien In New York.
Carolyn Hester
Carolyn Hester (b. 1937, Waco, Texas) was an important figure of the early '60s folk revival, singing traditional material in the manner similar to that of later chanteuses such as Joan Baez and Judy Collins.
