The Sontaran Experiment

Named after the legendary Dr Who episode from the 1975, this band has been created to push music to its limits. Crushing doom, blastbeats, harsh electronics/vocals and a beautiful prog feel combine to push boundaries a little further in extremity. Noise artist Stuntcock had been looking for some extreme musicians to accompany his electronic racket, calling on his old cohort Seddon, and two travelling Sontarans, Rooster and Si.

Thorr's Hammer

Thorr's Hammer were an American/Norwegian Doom Metal band formed in Ballard, Washington by Greg Anderson (ex-Engine Kid, Sunn O))), Goatsnake) and Stephen O'Malley (Sunn O))), Burning Witch, SARIN, Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine, Lotus Eaters, Ginnungagap, Khanate, Fungal Hex, KTL, Æthenor, Gravetemple) during winter 1994-1995. Soon after Runhild Gammelsæter, then 17-year-old Norwegian exchange student, joined the band as vocalist/lyricist.

In Vain

There are a few artists with this name. 1) In Vain is a progressive death metal band from Kristiansand, Norway. Formed by three young music enthusiasts back in 2003, the band has already released two highly critically acclaimed self financed EP’s; Will the Sun Ever Rise and Wounds. Will the Sun Ever Rise(2004), a three-track EP of unrelenting atmosphere, aggression and complexity. The EP was embraced by metal heads and journalists alike.

Ereb Altor

This epic metal band was formed in the early 90's by the sole two members still making up Ereb Altor. Growing up having Bathory's epic era in our hearts it was inevitable that the music we created somehow was going to be influenced by our house gods. Having Bathory's music as a foundation we created our own branch of this so called "epic viking metal" genre. Lyric-wise the topics differed slightly.

Seventh Angel

Seventh Angel is a thrash/doom metal band from Netherton, UK, that formed in 1987. Their first two releases, The Torment (1990), and Lament for the Weary (1991) were distributed through the label "Music for Nations" making them label mates with bands such as Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer, and were considered by many at the time to be one best metal acts in the United Kingdom. They were one of the few bands to combine elements of doom and thrash metal.

Baba Yaga

'Baba Yaga,' according to Slavic mythology, is the wild, old women, the dark lady and the mistress of magic, as too is she seen as a forest spirit, leading hosts of spirits. More than one artist is known as Baba Yaga. 1. A six piece all female lesbian jazz-funk group active in the 70s. 2. Baba Yaga was a group of Hungarian and Russian musicians fronted by Irish musician Jamie Winchester. The music was a unique mixture of original English language songs and Russian folk songs. They made two albums 'Where Will You Go?' and 'Secret Combination'.

There are at least two bands with this name: A Swedish drone rock band and a shoegaze band from Indianapolis, Indiana. 1. US band: Svetlana is a shoegaze band from Indianapolis, IN that writes music under the influence of such groups as My Bloody Valentine, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Ride, Swervedriver, and Pacific U.V. 2. Swedish band: The name of the band would suggest that we're dealing with a Russian gothic metal/rock outfit, but that's hardly the case. In reality the band is from Sweden and plays low, rumbling drone.

1) Burden is a finnish thrash metal metal band. It was founded in autumn 2008. Sami (bass guitar/vocals) and Henkka (rhythm guitar) phoned Matias (drums) so they could form a band. Later Henkka asked Otto (lead guitar) to join the band, and he did. After they had composed some songs of their own, they practiced hard and went to the studio.

Mother Eel

Mother Eel is a metal five piece, that was a four piece, and that formed, firstly, as a three piece in 2003 in the Cold, Dark and Evil, Blue Mountains Australia. The sound has been described as one being gang raped by clowns on smack. They have been well received by audiences with mixed musical tastes, and are praised and otherwise for their crushingly oppressive live performances. Mother Eel are, in a way, attached to Grindhead Records.
