Homayun Sakhi

Introduction
Like many lands riven by conflict, Afghanistan and its vexed politics have spawned diaspora communities near and far.
Music is the lifeblood of such communities, linking them to a common homeland through song, poetry, and a sense of tradition.
Homayun Sakhi, formerly of Kabul, later a refugee in Peshawar, Pakistan, and presently a resident of California, is possibly the finest rubab player of his generation.

Aidan O'Rourke

Aidan is a fiddle player and composer from the Isle of Seil on the West Coast of Scotland. He has toured extensively in Europe and North America from the age of 15 and has made his name as one of Scotland’s most expressive and dynamic musicians. At 19, Aidan formed Tabache with Claire Mann and went on to record the internationally acclaimed album ‘Waves of Rush’. Aidan now performs with the hugely successful BLAZIN' FIDDLES (Live Act of the Year 2004) and in an exiting new trio called LAU with KRIS DREVER and MARTIN GREEN.

Shaskeen

Shaskeen is a traditional Irish band formed in London in 1970 by Tom Cussen who plays banjo and mandolin. They recorded their first album in 1974 and quickly followed it with albums in 1975, 1976 and 1978. By 2008 they released Walking up Town as their 15th album.

Anna Massie

Anna Massie was the winner of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2003 Award. A talented multi-instrumentalist, she excels in playing the fiddle, mandolin and tenor banjo. Though perhaps most impressive is her guitar playing - equally at home either accompanying in her unique rhythmic style or flatpicking tunes, Massie’s dexterity shines through. She has performed twice at the Celtic Colours International Festival in Cape Breton.

Firmly grounded in his traditional roots but never afraid to explore new territory, Chris sets himself apart not just because of his astounding technical ability and musicianship but because of his determination to take the music to new levels of innovation and experimentation.
