Vivian Jones

At the age of ten, Vivian Jones left Trelawney, Jamaica, in 1967 to settle in England.
In 1977 he joined the band the Spartans and began to write his own material. A couple of bands later, Vivian went solo and achieved a number 1 in the reggae charts in 1980 with "Good Morning"
In 1981, "Black Echoes" magazine voted him the most talented singer/songwriter in the UK.
1988 saw another number 1 in the reggae charts, "Sugar Love", which stayed there for four weeks.

Chris Murray

Chris Murray is a Canadian-born singer-songwriter and guitarist working primarily in the genre of ska. In Canada, he was a member of the now-defunct ska band King Apparatus. He now lives in the Los Angeles, California area, where he performs regularly, both solo as well as with the Chris Murray Combo. Murray has performed throughout North America, Europe, Japan, and South America, and released several CDs on the Asian Man Records label.

The Goldmaster Allstars is a vibrant and dynamic 12-piece band performing laid-back , heavy and instrumentals. The band's sound borrows heavily from the Jamaican scene although they rarely perform covers. They have recorded 2 albums and numerous EPs, working with some of the greats including Alton Ellis, Michael Prophet, The Pioneers, Dennis Alcapone, Tena Stelin, Owen Gray, Winston Francis, Winston Reedy and AJ Franklin.

The Upsetters

There are two bands by the name The Upsetters: 1. "The Upsetters" is the name of the studio backing band of Jamaican Reggae producer Lee "Scratch" Perry, a.k.a. "The Upsetter". The members most associated with that name included guitarist Alva Lewis, organist Glen Adams and brothers Aston Barrett and Carlton Barrett on bass and drums respectively, a.k.a. The Hippy Boys. As Lee Perry's studio band, the Upsetters had three distinct line-ups, though, throughout the years 1968-1986.

Bob Marley & The Wailers

Bob Marley & the Wailers was a band created in 1974 by Bob Marley, after Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer left the precursor band, The Wailers. Bob Marley & The Wailers formed in Kingston, Jamaica and consisted of Bob Marley himself as guitarist, song writer and lead singer, Wailers Band as the backing band and the I Threes as backup vocalists. The band included the brothers Carlton Barrett and Aston "family Man" Barrett on drums and bass respectively, Junior Marvin and Al Anderson on lead guitar, Tyrone Downie and Earl "Wire" Lindo on keyboards, and Alvin "Seeco" Patterson on percussion.

Toots and The Maytals

Toots and the Maytals, originally called simply The Maytals, are considered legends of ska and reggae music. Their sound is a unique, original combination of gospel, ska, soul, reggae and rock. Frederick "Toots" Hibbert, the leader of the group, was born in May Pen in the Parish of Clarendon, Jamaica. He was the youngest of seven children. He grew up singing gospel music in a church choir, but moved to Kingston in 1961 at the age of sixteen.

Pioneers

The Pioneers were a vocal trio that was instrumental in the beginnings of Ska and the worldwide popularising of Jamaican music The Pioneers were one of the first Jamaican bands to achieve international chart success. They attracted a large audience in the U.K., mainly within the large skinhead scene brewing in the late 1960s. Their influence was directly felt in many of the Ska Revival bands on the Two-Tone Label, including The Specials, who covered "Long Shot (Kick de Bucket)", and The English Beat, who covered "Jackpot".
