Wailing Souls

In the early days of the Wailing Souls, the first name that the group came up with in the late 60's was the Renegades. This group consisted of Winston 'Pipe' Matthews on lead vocals, Lloyd 'Bread' McDonald, and George 'Buddy' Haye. This line-up recorded backing vocals for an Ernest Ranglin album before breaking up in 1968. 'Pipe' and 'Bread' teamed up with two other singers after that, Oswald Downes and Norman Davis, and recorded the single "Gold Digger" for producer, Lloyd "Matador" Daley.

Charlie Chaplin

There are two artists known as Charlie Chaplin. 1) Charlie Chaplin was a silent film actor, director and comedian, best known for his recurring character "the little tramp". Besides performing and directing, he also composed music to be played alongside his movies. 2) Charlie Chaplin (born Richard Bennett is a Jamaican dancehall and ragga deejay and singer. It was common for Jamaican deejays of the era to name themselves after film stars or characters.

There are two groups using the name Carrier. Carrier (Florida, USA)
A hardcore/experimental group that is now defunct. Members have been known to shout the words to their energetic and powerful songs during live shows. Released Three EPs. Each record showcases the band's hard hitting and emotional music.

Sammy Dread

One of the first reggae artists to embrace dancehall, Sammy Dread (born: Stewart Farquaharson) has continued to take a hard-edged, roughhouse, approach to reggae. While he scored minor solo hits with "Talk It Over" and "Trying To Conquer Natty Dreadlocks", and an album, Stereophonic, recorded with Philip Frazer in 1980, Dread's best work has been produced in collaboration with such reggae artists as Sugar Minnot, Black Roots and InI Oneness. The title track of his 1995 album, Road Block, was covered by London-born and United States-based vocalist/rapper, Shinehead.
