Christina Carter

Christina Carter first joined Tom Carter and Kyle Silfer in an unnamed trio in 1991; they went on to become Charalambides. Charalambides is a singular entity that has constantly defined itself by gripping music and its operation outside the parameters of the music industry. Beginning with self-released cassettes, then moving on to the Siltbreeze label in 1993, Charalambides garnered attention from those in the know with their unique mix of noise, gospel, folk and blues.

NURSES

To immerse yourself in Nurses' Apple's Acre is to delight in a certain mental unraveling. These are songs where the vulnerability of pop with its heart on its sleeve engages in a double-dutch jumprope match with the euphoric surrender-to-the-weird that is essential to psychedelia. And Nurses is a band that scavenges beauty and wonder, uncovering Technicolor where others see somber hues. Their off-kilter psych-pop is driven by ever-swelling vocal harmonies, adventurous electronics, some serious wheelin' and dealin' on the Rhodes piano...

Expensive Looks

Expensive Looks, the pseudonym for New York-based psych-pop bedroom producer Alec Feld, meld tropical garage breaks, shimmering visceral chants, and disco-edged house to kick back to the displays of natural forces and days of unparalleled euphoric ecstasy. Akin to creations of early garage titans and wonders transfused with codeine-soaked acid jams, the smoothly ethereal yet grimy sounds reveal the inner-workings of towering, crashing polar shifts.
