Александр Константинович Глазунов (Alexander Glazunov; 10th August 1865–21st March 1936) was a Russian composer and influential music teacher. Glazunov was born in St Petersburg. He studied music under Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. The first of his nine symphonies was premiered in 1882, when Glazunov was sixteen years old. His popular "Stenka Razin" was also a youthful work. Glazunov also wrote three ballets.
Dave Maric (born 12 June 1970) is a British composer and musician. During the 1990s he regularly performed and recorded as a jazz and classical pianist with a number of new music ensembles including the London Sinfonietta and the Steve Martland Band. Since 2000 he has been regularly composing stylistically varied works for various instrumental combinations including music for classical soloists, chamber and orchestral ensembles and works for live performers with computer generated sound sources.
Karol Maciej Korwin-Szymanowski (October 6, 1882–March 28, 1937) was a Polish composer and pianist. His style developed in three distinct stages, from a strong affinity with Richard Strauss, Alexander Scriabin and countryman Frédéric Chopin, to flavourings of the Orient, the Mediterranean, and the impressionism of Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel, to Polish folk music and the Eastern Church. Even when writing in a Polish idiom, Szymanowski far exceeded the established musical language of central Europe, and is remembered as an exotic outlier of 20th century music.
Harrison Birtwistle is one of the world's foremost living composers. Born Accrington, 1934, he studied Clarinet and Composition at the Royal Manchester College of Music from 1953 where, along with fellow students Peter Maxwell Davies, Alexander Goehr, John Ogdon and Elgar Howarth, he formed the New Music Manchester group which was dedicated to performing avant-garde and contemporary compositions.
André Caplet (November 23, 1878 – April 22, 1925) was a French composer and conductor. Caplet was born in Le Havre, Normandy. He was a friend of Debussy and he orchestrated part of Debussy's Le Martyre de Saint-Sébastien (Bernac 1978, p. 221; Orledge 2003). He also collaborated with Debussy in the orchestration of La Boite a Joujoux. In 1911, Caplet prepared an orchestration of Debussy's Children's Corner, which, along with his orchestration of Clair de Lune from the Suite bergamasque is probably the most widely performed and recorded example of his work.
Henri Duparc (Eugène Marie Henri Fouques Duparc) (January 21, 1848 – February 12, 1933) was a French composer of the late Romantic period. Duparc was born in Paris. He studied piano with César Franck at the Jesuit College in the Vaugirard district and became one of his first composition pupils. Following military service in the Franco-Prussian War, he married Ellen MacSwinney, from Scotland, on November 9, 1871. In the same year, he joined with Saint-Saëns and Romain Bussine to found the Société Nationale de Musique Moderne.

William (Havergal) Brian (January 29, 1876 – November 28, 1972), was a British composer. Brian acquired a legendary status at the time of his rediscovery in the 1950s and 1960s for the number of symphonies he had managed to write (thirty-two, an unusually large number for any composer since Beethoven), and for his creative persistence in the face of almost total neglect during the greater part of his long life.
