They feature David Williams (vocals/guitar), Sam Stearne (drums), Caitlin Duff (vocals), Nathaniel Morse (guitar), Art Zinoviev (synth) and Josh Flavel (bass). Formed in 2006 into the vapid whirlpool era of fluro dance-punk, the quintet has since been impossible to pin down to any one sound or genre, opting for distinct stylistic strides between releases.
Fanfarlo were conceived by Simon (vocals, guitar, keys, mandolin, sax, glock) while he was taking shelter in a forest from a particularly heavy snowstorm in Sweden. Inspired to move to London to form the band, he quickly found allies in Justin (bass) and Leon (trumpet/keyboards) when playing small gigs around the city. Mark (electric guitar, keys, vocals, accordian, fanfarlophone) then joined, and Fanfarlo's electronic backing track was ceremoniously destroyed when Amos (drums & percussion, vocals) was enlisted to complete the rhythm section.

Nataly Dawn started off in L.A., moved to France at the age of ten, spent a few years in Belgium and then scurried on back to California to pursue an education in art and French literature. She makes music as often as possible, to keep herself sane and happy. She dabbles around with piano, guitar and bass (her favorite instrument), but does not consider herself an expert at any of them. Mostly she enjoys singing and inventing odd harmonies.

As well as being classed as a "punk revival" band (reminiscent of British 1970s bands such as Stiff Little Fingers, The Damned, Sham 69 and Eddie & The Hot Rods), Swingin' Utters have increasingly shown themselves to be influenced by Irish folk, particularly The Pogues.
