Camper Van Beethoven is an alternative rock band that was founded in 1983 in Redlands, California, though the band soon moved to Santa Cruz, California. Camper Van Beethoven mixed elements of pop, ska, punk rock, folk, country, and acid rock into an eclectic, catchy and sometimes mysterious ensemble, years before the so-called alternative rock moniker came to mainstream attention. The group's trademark violin-coated melodies and their ironic take on American culture put them one step away from being a novelty act in the eyes of many critics.

1. Bill Laswell in slow meditative ambient Dub mode. Personnel include Gabe Gatz from Blind Idiot God and DJ Spooky, as well as Bill Laswell alumni Nicky Skopelites, Lilli Haydn, Tetsu Inoue and Robert Musso. 2. They self-released their first EP “Far From Home,” as well as releasing two split 7 inches (one with underground hip-hop artist GDP on Division East Records and the other with the UK’s own OK Pilot on Failsafe Records).
Combining elements of both rock and folk music, along with disturbingly personal sentiments, dark humor, and a voice able to channel both the falsetto highs of Neil Young and the wavering raspy low tones of Leonard Cohen, Toronto's Hayden Desser has spent the last 15 years creating uniquely affecting music. The critically acclaimed musician first appeared in the early '90s armed with only his four-track tape recorder, his unexpectedly low vocal range, and an extremely detuned guitar.
He creates a fresh new sound: deep basses, kinky offbeats, a sweet rhythmical singjay voice and good caribbean vibes. It can easily make you forget that the upcoming singer Elijah was born and raised in Zurich, the Swiss reggae capital.
Since 2004 he brings together different european cultures, chanting in local Zurich-patois, Italian and English. About three years ago he hooked up with the backing band “The Dubby Conquerors” and they haven’t looked back ever since.
The music of Underdose, defined by fans as ‘progressive, melodic, moody, happy, hard grunge’, ‘technical, not-so-straightforward rock’ or ‘a combination of Alice in Chains & Tool’, is in itself the symbiotic convergence of relatively diverse musical preferences of its four members and a result of more than 5-year-long ripening in the dirt of beer-and-tobacco scented, dimly lit pubs.
