The Peppermint Lounge

"Samples, electronic drum kit, trumpets and turntables; their sound is a lush concoction across genres. Hip-hop type beats supplement gloomy electronic rumblings and stabs of melody are prepared over the top, creating a busy yet subtle environment... It's good to see a band thinking about inventiveness, The Peppermint Lounge are ones to delve further into." -Tom Keighley (Leeds Music Scene) 6/11/09

Lilacs & Champagne

As the producing-team behind Grails, Alex Hall and Emil Amos have hybridized and warped various culture’s versions of psych music over the past decade. With their new project they’ve created another umbrella under which to tweak hip-hop, tape-collage and the darkest creases of 70′s film-soundtracks with their lysergic and perverse style of head-music. The project’s name and imagery evoke a strange thrift-store mystery LP you might come across, unsure if you’ve discovered an exotic dub record, a flowery Bacharach AM radio classic or something by an obscure duo of Swedish avant-techno producers.

ahu

This young Turkish singer, full name Ahu Kelesoglu, has already built up quite a reputation for her collaborations with Flying Lotus, Mr Beatnick and others – it was she, under the name Dolly, who contributed the sublime, dusky vocal to Flying Lotus’s ‘Robertaflack’. Increasingly focussing on solo work inspired by house, techno, the golden age of jazz singers, European movie soundtracks and much else besides, we reckon Ahu’s really going to be one to watch in the months and years that lie ahead.

Double No No

Inhaling the dust of the Desert Sessions and peering up at Johnny and June has helped form the fledgling catalogue of Double No No material. Musically skipping from primal shuffles to doomed, flamenco-flavoured anti ballad trip hop, Dannielle Maibaum's powerful brooding voice tells the story over a stripped back rhythm centric band.

Paul Cooper

Co-runs Project Squared. Co-runs Project Mooncircle. Has made and released music as Mr Cooper (instrumental hip hop, production for rappers). I started this label as my music taste is branching out from hip hop and electronic “listening” music and is becoming more focused on music to dance to, primarily dubstep and techno and the places inbetween these two genres. I found two artists who deserved to be released on vinyl and decided to make a label for them and hopefully others to follow… Maybe even for my own productions in the realm of techno and dubstep eventually...
