Nits, formerly The Nits (and sometimes labeled as such today in some releases), are a dutch art rock group, founded in 1974 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Their musical style has varied considerably over the years, as has their line-up with the core of Henk Hofstede (the group's lead singer and lyricist), Rob Kloet, drummer, Robert Jan Stips (Supersister, Gruppo Sportivo, Golden Earring), keyboards.
George Barnett is an 18 year old musician and singer/songwriter from England. He started making music aged three. He plays drums, piano, guitar, bass, trumpet and harmonica, as well as singing. He writes all his own songs, as well as recording and producing them. Up until 2010, the only thing he wanted to do was be a drummer. (In 2008, he won the UK National title Young Drummer Of The Year.) Then he decided he could probably write some songs too.
The origins of New Zealand's Verlaines can be traced back as early as 1979, with the group's founder Graeme Downes took direct inspiration from fellow Dunedin group, the Clean to form a band of his own. It wasn't until 1981 that the group made their first public appearance with their initial five-piece line-up. The band have so far released seven full-length albums on three different labels, one mini album, three singles and two compilations.
