Michael Forrest
Michael Forrest is a solo multi-instrumentalist producer based in London. His influences are far reaching, from instrumental hip-hop through ragged electronica to jazz and classical music. The sound is asymmetric, polyrhythmic, often atonal, sometimes dark, sometimes relaxed, sometimes very very tense, but always fun. Multi-instrumentalist Forrest plays all his own instruments - the keyboard, the trumpet, cello, drums, decks and anything else he can lay his hands on.
Kid Champion
Daphni
Music project of Caribou's Dan Snaith. Daphni's debut album, Jiaolong, will be released on 8 October on Merge Records. "During the time I was making the Caribou album Swim, I'd fallen back in love with moments in small, dark clubs when a DJ puts on a piece of music that not only can you not identify, but that until you heard it you could not have conceived of existing," Snaith said. "Daphni tracks are rough and spontaneous … They're about working fast and intuitively, capturing the manic energy needed to start a track one afternoon, have it finished, and be playing it in a club that night."
Kone-R
Kone-R is the man behind the Uncharted Audio record label, which has introduced the likes of Cursor Miner, LJ Kruzer, Kings Have Long Arms and plenty of other weird and wonderful sonic tomfoolery to the world. Manning the turntables since 1992 when he discovered the joy of warehouse raves, the spirit of that era lives on in his sets today, with a liberal sprinkling of ambience, techno, breakbeats and plenty of low frequency oscillations.
Aurelie
There are two artists represented here:
1) In autumn of 2001 two males, living almost precisely at the centre of England, decided upon the name Aurelie to denote their collaboration. The word itself is a common girl's name on the continent and was chosen purely for its phonetic beauty rather than any inherent meaning. Their first album, Desde Que Naci, was released on Swim Records in 2003. The album combined ambient electronics and minimalist instrumental pieces, receiving positive reviews from magazines including Wire and Uncut.
