The Dogs

Five artists share this page: a 70s rock band, an indie band, a French power pop band, a Cave Pop project, and a 90s rap group. 1) The Dogs formed around 1969 in Lansing, Michigan, influenced by the MC5 and The Stooges, Amboy Dukes, Alice Cooper, they were all about playing with Marshall stacks real real loud. They moved to Los Angeles in '76 and became a fixture on the early LA punk scene. 2) The Dogs are an indie rock band based in Chicago, Illinois.

They are comprised of Rob Seaton (vocals, guitar), Jeff Houle (drums, vocals) and Mitch Houle (bass, vocals). Slowride

Born and bred in Dallas, Texas, the members of Slowride compose an infectious punk sound similar to the likes of Jawbreaker and Pennywise. They're also rockers with a sweet side, deriving catchy fun melodies. The band — which is composed of Dan Phillips (guitar/vocals), Rob Marchant (bass), and Steve Visneau (drums) — hooked up with famed indie producer Ed Rose (Appleseed Cast, Brandtson, Get Up Kids) to record some songs for their Deep Elm debut in late 2001. The fruit of those sessions was As I Survive the Suicide Bomber, issued in February 2002.

Dmitry Shostakovich

Dmitri Dmitriyevich Shostakovich (25 September [O.S. September 12] 1906 – 9 August 1975) was a Russian composer of the Soviet period and one of the most celebrated composers of the 20th century. Shostakovich achieved fame in the Soviet Union under the patronage of Leon Trotsky's chief of staff Mikhail Tukhachevsky, but later had a complex and difficult relationship with the Stalinist bureaucracy. His music was officially denounced twice, in 1936 and 1948, and was periodically banned. Yet he also received accolades and state awards and served in the Supreme Soviet of RSFSR.

Komputer

Komputer is the project of two London-based synth-meisters: Simon Leonard and David Baker, releasing on Mute Records. The duo have been writing, mixing and producing together for over 25 years, formerly in I Start Counting & Fortran 5. Their new album is Synthetik. Their sound is rigorously electronic and their tracks deal with such diverse subjects as: Russian cosmonauts, rubbish compactors and mobile phone ringtones. Musical antecedents and influences include Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder, Syd Barrett and Brian Eno.
