The Sorrows are considered perhaps to be the archetypal "Freakbeat" band. Formed in 1963 in Coventry, England, they released their first album "Take a Heart" in 1965 on the Piccadilly Records label which was a subsidiary of Pye Records. The Sorrows were at the time the hardest, most aggressive and contemporary R&B band of that time, although later this brand of music was eventually termed "Freakbeat".

Bass and drums pairing. Canadian two piece from Kingston, Ontario who signed to the now defunct TAG record label. Members were Mike O'Neill and Dave Ullrich. O'Neill has gone on to record solo albums. Ullrich founded Zunior.com which sells independent music in DRM-free MP3 format. In 2007, Ullrich and O'Neill reformed the band to record a version of "Dope Fiends and Booze Hounds" for the Rheostatics' tribute album The Secret Sessions.

The Kings were formed in Vancouver, British Columbia and Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Farrah are a UK power pop quartet formed in the north east of England in 1999. After releasing their debut single "Terry" on the indie Noisebox label in the UK they were signed to The Police manager Miles Copland's Ark 21 label for the release of their debut album Moustache. The album was released in the UK, USA, Europe and Japan and saw the band tour the world extensively to support it. After Ark 21 dissolved, in 2004, their second album Me Too was released on various independent labels throughout the world.
