Vital, energetic and life affirming are not words often associated with modern Indie acts, Big Wednesday however, look set to change that. Not satisfied with writing the kind of songs that will remain firmly embedded in your subconscious long after even the most cursory listen, Big Wednesday inject every note with a youthful passion that ensures that you won't just be humming the songs in your head; you'll be frantically tapping on the table as well. After supporting legendary acts Blondie and The Stranglers, M-Channel (Sky Digital channel 475) made a documentary about the band.

The Indelicates are an indie rock group formed in Sussex, England in 2005. They consist of Julia Clark-Lowes (vocals and keyboards), Simon Clayton (vocals, guitar), Alastair Clayton (guitar), Kate Newberry (bass) and Ed van Beinum (drums). Julia Clark-Lowes is a former member of The Pipettes, and Simon Clayton is the author of The Book Of Job: The Musical!. The Brian Jonestown Massacre

The Brian Jonestown Massacre was formed in San Francisco in 1990. The band has had over 40 members since then, but its driving force and main songwriter is Anton Newcombe. Prominent ex-members included Matt Hollywood, Dean Taylor, Jeff Davies, Brian Glaze, and Joel Gion. Their sound is heavily influenced by the psychedelic sounds of the 1960s, but also carries influences from shoegaze, jangle pop, garage rock, and lo-fi sonorities. The band is probably most famous from their mid-90s friendship/rivalry with The Dandy Warhols, and ensuing documentary, DiG!.

Cymbals Eat Guitars

Cymbals Eat Guitars are an indie rock band from Staten Island, New York, United States. They consist of Joseph Ferocious (vocals, guitar),
Neil Berenholz (bass, vocals), Daniel Baer (keyboards, vocals) and Matthew Miller (drums). They have released one album, "Why There Are Mountains", which has received glowing reviews since its January 2009 release, and has received the title of 'Best New Music' from pitchfork.com.

Mascot Fight

Mascot Fight are a 4-piece indiepop/alternative band from Derby, UK. They formed in 2005 from the ashes of The Dependable Accumulators, and have released an album, Pantomime Hearse and an EP, If Cooks Could Kill so far. An as-yet-untitled EP is planned for late 2009. The band have gained recognition in the form of airplay on several radio stations, notably BBC Radio 1 and BBC Digital Radio 6. Current line-up:

B.C. Camplight

BC Camplight is Brian Christinzio, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Christinzio openly admits to being a fan of the song-writing of George Gershwin, Burt Bacharach and Todd Rundgren, whose influences all shine clearly through his debut long player ‘Hide, Run Away’ released in 2005 on One Little Indian. There’s also a big nod to Brian Wilson and Pet Sounds as Brain composed and arranged every note of the record as well as playing nearly every instrument himself. "If I could play drums well enough, I would have done that too” he said.

Widows

Widows is a Finnish punk band formed in 1979 Helsinki, Finland. Their current line-up for 2008 consists of T.B. Widow (bass), Johnny Widow (guitar), Jacky Ix (vocals) and Spädä (drums). Widows was formed in early 1970's by brothers T.B. Widow (vocals, bass) and Johnny Widow (guitar), after been influenced by bands like New York Dolls. It wasn't until 1975 that they got a permanent drummer as Rocky joined them.

Lowlife

There is more than one band with this name. 1. Lowlife was a Scottish post-punk/dream pop band, active from 1985 to 1997. Although never obtaining mainstream popularity, they developed a cult following that continues to this day. Early years: Pre-Lowlife Dead Neighbours was an early-1980s psychobilly band from Grangemouth, Scotland, originally consisting of Craig Lorentson (vocals), David Steel (bass), Ronnie Buchanan (guitar) , and Grant McDowall (drums).

The Dandy Warhols

Often compared to the druggy psychedelic pop of The Velvet Underground, The Dandy Warhols do possess more than just a passing resemblance to Lou Reed and company at times, but elements of such modern rockers as Love and Rockets and Ride can be detected in their sound as well. Formed in Portland, OR, during 1994, the Dandy Warhols consist of members Courtney Taylor (vocals, guitar), Zia McCabe (keyboards), Peter Holmstrom (guitar), and Eric Hedford (drums), who signed on with the independent label Tim/Kerr shortly after their formation.
