If you want to hear a band that live and breathe for the revitalisation of Punk in the UK, then WhadABeast is who you want to listen to. WhadABeast were formed in May 2011. They came around after Bassist Joe and Guitarist Harvey asked Sam to drum for them as a last minute replacement for a local talent competition. From the first minute they played together, it was clear that they should carry on playing together and take their musical ambition, skill and talent forwards to a higher level. After playing a couple of shows which only included cover songs of different pop-punk bands, the trio decided to get down and write some original material.
When writing music, WhadABeast aim to bring back the Pop-Punk scene to the UK. It has gone relatively quiet over here and the US are leading the genre. After seeing bands like Blink 182, Green Day, All Time Low and many other North American bands become the forefront of the genre; WhadABeast decided that something needed to be done to raise the profile in the UK. This is where their music is more unique to other local bands; they aim to bring a new style of music with audience involvement that may not be expected from such a young band.
WhadABeast aim to relate their music to things their audience may relate to, everyday rituals, or something that the audience may do over the weekend or something that they (the audience) feel. This ranges from ordering a Chinese on a Friday, going to a party with all of your friends and feeling lost in this always growing world. This way, WhadABeast aims to grab the attention and heart-spoken feeling of their listeners, whether they are current or new.
When it comes to live performances, there may not be many right now, but WhadABeast have always put on a hell of a show. WhadABeast have always been complimented for their punk style and attitude (about the energy) along with sounding crisp and awesome, which a lot of punk bands do not manage. They have been able to awe crowds with their great sound and stage presence, to a level where they have had multiple personnel in the industry interested to talk to them. Even though they may not be headlining right now, many compliments have been thrown their way and I am sure they are on their way to be playing headline shows within months.
