Kinnie The Explorer

Formed early in 2010, Kinnie The Explorer is an avant-rock group based in Brighton, UK. In April 2010 their debut EP “Blood, It's On Every Wall” was released via band camp digital download and CD, which quickly sold out. In June 2010 they supported Noah & The Whale at Bournemouth O2 Academy – only their fourth ever gig. And in September 2010 acclaimed indie label Art Is Hard Records released their song “Blind Spider” on its critically praised “Brink Of The Clouds” inaugural compilation CD, which sold out in days.

This first year of activity brought extensive cult airplay, including on BBC Introducing and Resonance FM, and enthusiastic reviews in The Leaving Scene, Indie Shuffle, The 405 and more. Early in 2011 Kinnie The Explorer played a string of dates in London, appearing notably alongside Spandau Ballet's Gary Kemp at Richard Strange's iconic “Cabaret Futura” and headlining a “Club Integral” night at Cafe Oto curated by Resonance FM's Sony Award nominated programmer Ed Baxter. They were subsequently invited to record a radio session for Resonance FM at Ravensbourne's Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund-supported music studio in Greenwich. More gigs followed, including an invitation to headline the "2+2=5: L'Incroyable Festival" in Montpellier, France, September 2011.

In Spring 2011 the band secured a touring grant from the PRS for Music Foundation and Summer 2011 saw them record their debut full length album with producer Bob Drake (Thinking Plague, Hail, Tina Turner, Ice Cube, Faust) in the French Pyrenees. This will go to vinyl cut for a February 2012 12” LP release, self-funded by the band's touring. At the time of writing, Kinnie The Explorer has undertaken further shows in London and Brighton, including a date with legendary Irish psychedelic folk-rock group Dr. Strangely Strange in October 2011. Kinnie The Explorer will be touring the UK and France in Spring 2012 before a US tour which hinges upon a showcase at SXSW.
